Dye Sub project help

Hi all, I have a small name plaque I am trying to make in memory of a lost one. It would be a gold color aluminum plate, that I would like to print black lettering on.

Is anyone able to assist me with this? I haven’t used the dye sub before, but would need to make the sign this weekend or week.

Do dye sub signs last in the outdoors?

Thanks in advance!

Colby Sherman

In preparation for your dye sub adventure, do you have a properly treated dye-sublimatable blank?

Something like this disc might be more suitable.

There are metal plates for dye sub that have UV protectants in the coating. Two brands that come to mind are ChromaLuxe Outdoor and Duraluxe. I don’t believe either comes in gold. You could apply Krylon UV clear coat to it after sublimation to extend the life of it, but the Texas sun is very hard on any type of sign.
