This video shows drilling on the Tormach 8L using a collet reducer with a 1/2" shank (in the boring bar holder) . It is a #7 stubby drill and I did use a center drill first. It seems very stable compared to the jacob chuck, although it is limited to the drill bits (+/- a little) that fit in an ER16 collet and up to the largest 3/8" collet in the set.
We should consider getting a couple of these and a set of ER16 collets. Both items are fairly inexpensive.
