The cynical part of me sees this:
Well a 2mm drill isn’t much bigger than a 1mm, so it should be okay. It’s all arbitrary so I’m ignoring it.
Hey, a 3mm is only slightly bigger than the guy drilling the 2mm. He isn’t complying so why should I?
Of course I had to use oil! Everyone knows when drilling steel you have to use oil? Not my problem it stains brass and plastics.
What the heck, an 1/8th inch really isn’t significantly bigger than all 3mm holes people are drilling and besides they aren’t enforcing anything anyway, if they can violate the rule why can’t I?

FWIW, he was drilling ABS.

Worth a lot. A plastic. That’s permitted so not an issue.
He was very pleased at how it turned out
Yeh, I didn’t realize he was drilling ABS until I saw it. However, the jeweling drill press probably wouldn’t have held a 1mm drill in its chuck, so it was a moot point.
And good point about the cutting oil on that drill press.
I love Dallas MakerSpace! So many nice and helpful people.
I used the Foredom drill press with the flexible shaft tool to drill about a dozen 1mm holes in a few 3D Printed ABS parts. I really appreciate all the suggestions and the help I received in the Jewelry area.
Many thanks to everyone,
Phil
