My mom wants to learn to make hats, and is wondering if anyone has any hat making experience they would like to share. Hit me up if you are down to meet on zoom or in person.

You might want to be more specific on what kind of hats she wants to make. Some are sewn on a machine, some are hand tooled out of leather, and some are woven bamboo, etc. I suspect some members might be able to make one or another, but perhaps not be a full blown milliner.

I have some experience making helmets
I think she is most interesting in getting her hands dirty and learning something new. I’d have to ask her if she has a particular preference for a style or type

@Holliday has become adept at crocheting hats
@Print_Witch teaches how to make fleece hats on a serger
@Lordrook specializes in hats with a lot of feathers
@Webdevel makes in leather. Lordrook can do this too, as well as sewing.
@CaryF300 and another gentleman are great at dye-sublimation. Usually this is adding a printed image to purchased hats

I can teach her how to loom knit a hat, which is the easiest way to make a hat look like it was knitted. It’s how I learned to make hats, and it’s still the fastest way if you use chunky yarn.
