DIY Acoustic damping

@Kevin If you can’t double stud like @bertberaht recommended, you can always use an acoustic foam on the drywall and add another layer of drywall.

Of course, now we’re talking sound transmission between rooms, which is a very different issue than an in-room echo. Which problem are you trying to solve? Both?

The STC68 is necessary for drums.
We have the space for thicker wall
I think the studs are purposely like that
Also the metal helps better than wood
The airgap is crusial

Hmmm. . . If you are just sitting at a desk, is something like this useful?

Or I guess you could easily DIY this.

Maybe for just podcasting but how would that work for instruments

Yeah, just for voice over work or podcasting by one’s self. But it would be better to condition a whole room for podcasting and certainly if it was per video.

Maybe something from these guys?

The dyno room at a place I was at in the past was made from 8 or 10" thick wall sections a meter wide constructed from aluminium studs. One side was perforated aluminium sheeting, the exterior side was Alumobond. In between, was filled with rock wool. In between the perforated aluminium cladding, and rock wool was some sort of dark fabric that looked like this.

If you were inside, even with the vehicle entry side open, it was deafeningly quiet.
