DIY 3D Scanner for home

Learned how to use the NextEngine and MultiDrive last night. It was awesome and blew my mind away.

But, just like most things at the space, I want my own version at home for when I don’t want to drive across town. And for when I don’t need the most awesome thing in the world.

Has anyone had much luck with a DIY, under $200 3D scanning solution? I’ve already scoured the web, so I know what the general offerings and instructables are. I’m looking for someone who is currently using a DIY solution and getting reasonable results,

I’ve been wanting to try the Xbox camera one… Those can be picked up cheap at thrift stores.
