Direct to wood UV printing?

Does anyone at DMS own/run a business that offers direct-to-wood UV ink printing?

I’m interested in doing some but the printers are expen$ive.

Is there a reason for UV ink specifically? There are wood blanks that accept dye sublimation.

I need to print on Baltic birch and other hardwood plywoods. Can’t use anything made for printing.

I don’t know anyone specifically, but I know Johnson Plastics does sell UV flatbed printers, and may be able to point you to someone in the area.

The reason they want so much to print UV onto solid objects is because these machines are expensive!

We sold Vutek for a while, this 3250 was about $300k. You can get a used one on eBay for about $100,000. Great machines, but they require tender loving care.

You might call up Blank’s Printing downtown Dallas. They have a couple of big Vuteks, and they might like to give it shot.

As an alternative, you could print a mirror image with a laser printer, iron that paper onto the wood, and then gently remove the paper with water and a Scotchbrite pad.

A similar approach can be done using an inkjet printer printing on waxed paper (minus the ironing).
