Blacksmithing and woodworking project: kiridashi style scribing knife made from cable “Damascus” (Forge-welded pattern steel from towing cable) and a scrap of bloodwood turned on the lathe. Hot vinegar was used to etch the blade and bring out the texture from the steel.
This was my first attempt at forge-welding cable and as such was only partially successful, but the inclusions in this blade shouldn’t affect its ability to mark an accurate layout line.
