I think the strain Matt would be an excellent idea not just protect the floor but also to help with some of the noise. Without the carpet on the floor I believe we will find out that the sound of pounding on things is going to be increased significantly.
Agreed, all the pounding I do on my table at home creates a lot of noise.
So riddle me this, Do you guys have trim and a floor transition?
Yes! We bought transition and will be purchasing the vinyl wall stuff to cover the bottom of the wall at floor level. “words hard”

We will have all flooring done tonight . Tomorrow we will do baseboards and then begin moving.
