Competitive Robotics Committee vs BattleBots Team vs Robot Combat Interest Group?

@frank_lima… First, congrats on the new committee! :dms:

I am wondering how the following two groups tie into the new committee…

  • BattleBots Team: Looking at the most recent scheduled Board of Directors meeting on November 18th (Board of Directors Meeting 20161118 - Dallas Makerspace); and, the special ‘emergency’ Board of Directors meeting on December 1st (Board of Directors Meeting 20161201 - Dallas Makerspace), it appears (and, I’m just guessing) that basically the “BattleBots Team” that was proposed by Brian Luetchford (does Brian have a TALK account to ‘mention’?) to be under the 3D Fab Committee has effectively become the new Competitive Robotics Committee. Is this correct?

  • Robot Combat Interest Group: Looking even further back, in March of this year, the “Robot Combat Interest Group” at Dallas Makerspace was created by Mitch Cerroni (@themitch22) under the Remote Control Committee tied in with the “Dallas Area Robot Combat (D.A.R.C) Group” with Corey Morris (@Corey_Morris) - [Wiki: https://dallasmakerspace.org/wiki/Robot_Combat_Interest_Group; and, TALK: About the Robot Combat Interest Group category)]. Is the “Robot Combat Interest Group” the seed that started it all, and is now merged into the new committee? Or is it a sub-interest group of the new committee? Or is it completely separate, and still a sub-interest group of the Remote Control committee?

I’m asking partially out of curiosity; but, also to know whether the Robot Combat Interest Group category on TALK should be moved under the new Competitive Robotics category, merged with the new Competitive Robotics category, or left under the Remote Control category where it has been. Thanks in advance for any/all clarification on this!

  • Yes, this is correct.

  • Separate interest group, DARC has shifted its focus to the Bannan Raceway as far as I know.
