Community Exchange (aka Freebie Shelf) Location Poll

A fellowship of Makers in dedication to forming a new committee for restoring and maintaining our freebie shelf met on Saturday the 15th. Together, we decided to rename the “Freebie Shelf” to the “Community Exchange” so that we may reiterate its value as a tool for bringing us together as a community.

During that meeting, there was an unresolved discussion regarding the placement of our newly named Community Exchange area. Since this decision impacts the entire membership, I’d like to get everyone’s feedback.

This is a quick informal anonymous poll to determine interest in the placement of our Community Exchange area. No names will be shown. The item with the strongest support will heavily influence my organizational direction on this matter.

Where should the Community Exchange area (aka Freebie Shelf) be located?

  • I’m in favor of the original location, between the rear exit and the loading area.
  • I’m in favor of using underutilized space in the common room.
  • I’m in favor of some other area (please PM me or suggest a location in this thread).
  • I don’t care where it goes.
  • I am not in support of a Community Exchange area.

Be mindful that you’ll still need to get the BoD to approve space for this undertaking.

Getting BoD approval is certainly a good and preferred approach. But, keep in mind that their approval wasn’t required for the shelf’s removal.

Not to get into a long, protracted debate on this topic: Logistics offered that shelf, then removed it. Since they own “all the land” that is not assigned to a committee, you’ll have to either piggyback on existing committee space, convince Logistics to let you have some, or get the BoD to approve space.

Yes. That basically covers all the bases.

As chairmen of this committee, we will be asking for Board
approval. Bill will be putting up our wiki and when we get the
required 5 members, we will make formal request to the Board

I hope that this could be done in time to get it on Sunday s
Board meeting

The Board meeting is next Monday. Next Sunday is the annual member meeting, nothing but the in person voting occurs then.
