Does DMS have a collet chuck I can use on the wood lathe? I was planning on making a closed end pen from a kit and the instructions are calling for a collet chuck. I don’t think using the drill bit chuck on the lathe like a collet chuck is a good idea.
As far as I know (and I take inventory of the lathe area every 6 months), the wood shop lathe department does not have a collet chuck - we do have a drill bit chuck (mt2).
Maybe the machine shop has one that would be suitable??? Not sure who to ask in the machine shop.
The instructions state to use a 3/8" collet chuck for a small mandrel for the pen kit. I was planning on making one of the Apollo closed-end pen kits. I’m not sure if the drill bit chuck would work for that or if that is a good idea to use that on the head stock.
