CNC Lathe Class Interest Check?

I’d like to be approved to start using the Tormach 8L. If enough people are also interested, could we possibly get a class together?

I will watch this thread and will set a class once we have 5-6 interested persons . I would want everyone to have been checked off on the machine shop lathes before taking this class .

Well put me down as interested. I think it would’ve saved me some time on a few past projects.

You would be surprised . With time spent on programming and setup I rarely find the Tormach to be faster on one-off work. Still good learn and decide .

Thanks, I’ve taken the class for the Clausing-Colchester, so what else would I need to do first? Are there any online resources required for the Tormach?

I completed the engine lathe class with Bob last week, but that is all I’ve done so far. Is there another in-person class I would need before learning the CNC lathe?

No that is what you need . I will post here when I am getting the class on the calendar . Registration will require my approval and folks who answered here will get first shot at slots

@davdstanton is another instructor on the machine. Not sure of his availability or willingness to teach it.

During the last meeting he discussed that the classes for them started out strong however attendance began to dwindle.

I would like to be involved as well. I know about this tool and possibly could teach others how to use it. I have owned a similar Tormach system for a number of years and have achieved some good results with the lathe function. Let me know how I can help.

Steve feel free to come observe my class when I teach it . Don’t sign up just come observe . We would love to have another instructor .
