Ok, I checked in on several classes that are pending in the approval queue. I would say that a large portion of them (15%) are actually events. A class is not comprised of a few members getting together and shooting the breeze or for general unstructured discussions. Those are events!
Just this week we have 72 classes/events. Sounds like a great success AND IT IS! But we need to avoid claiming honorarium for events. Also it is my opinion that a committee meeting is not a class either. DMS should not pay out $50/$100 to handle committee business.
I’m waiting on feedback from some other honorarium approval members to double check me that I’m not being overzealous. Let unchecked this will become DMS’s largest single monthly expense and in some cases I think we are being taken advantage of.
