Class interest check: InDesign

Would anyone be interested in a class on InDesign in the Adobe Creative Cloud. I’m looking at setting up classes for Photoshop and Illustrator, but not sure if InDesign has much demand.

It looks like a very interesting application to do all kinds of layout design

I would like to learn more about it. Your views/thoughts on this software, what parts you would teach in your class, etc.

Sure thing! So as a graphic designer InDesign kinda rounds out my trio of software essentials but is definitely the one I use the least.

It’s great for setting up multi page documents and save a lot of rework time if you set up your document up front. If I ran a class I would focus on that aspect since that’s what I’m most familiar with so that would cover:

  • Column, margins, and bleed setup
  • Master pages
  • Baseline grid
  • Paragraph and character styles
  • Content frames (images)
  • Minor interactivity (how to set up hyperlinks)
  • Some export options
  • Possibly some other stuff

Not software specific, but I can also go over some basic print info related to multi page documents.

InDesign also has a lot of interactivity tools but I’m not really sure how to use them and it’s unfortunately an aspect of the software that Adobe doesn’t seemed concerned with updating or making quality of life changes to.

I’d sign up for an InDesign class. Illustrator too.
