It was 22°F outside but inside the garage but we didn’t have the 15° wind chill drop - a plus.

The license plate is his “call sign” from his days as an aviator
Looks like “Flatch” saved about a grand on replacing some shifter bushings thanks to cold beer hot chocolate and friends who live up to Semper Fi (even if they aren’t Marines?).
Looks like a fun little ride; appropriately rock-chipped front end…
EDIT: dammit. Forgot to work in “rootin’ tootin’ good time”…
Ive been getting my Jeep “Road Worthy™” during the past couple days. Re-welding my beadlock wheel & putting the hardtop on, 96lbs.
Got this installed Friday. It was a lot harder than it looks so I didn’t have the energy or time to tidy it up Saturday, then work and a painful cold front rolled in on Sunday. As hard as it is to want to lay down in a puddle of gear oil and turn a wrench, it’s even harder when the puddle of gear oil is 15 degrees.
Andrew,
My brother bought it as a retirement gift to himself in 2011. He wanted a traditional 911 (air cooled) cabrio, it had to be a stick shift (3 pedals) of course.
It was $13k with 38000 miles on the clock.
The rock chips are from actually driving and enjoying the car…
appropriately
A 911 without rock chips is a wasted opportunity in all of our opinions it seems.
Thanks Kris!
There are some that buy cars - etc that rarely drive them out of the garage, heaven forbid a Land Rover Liberal actually drive in a mud puddle etc
Cars were made to be driven, and body shops are around for repairs and paint chips.
The folks that enter and race their vintage classics in sanctioned events are admirable…no appreciation for the people that use a diaper on the show cars and scream at kids that get too close.
Clear bra has seen some real advancements in recent years, it’s also a great option for those concerned with rock chips. (I have a plastic front fascia, I’m not one of those people)
I’m with you though. The whole reason I’ve dumped as much money as I have into building up this engine and the car it’s going into, in spite of a relatively low power goal, is to ensure the car will run and drive for years to come. No sense having something that only makes it out to cars and coffee once a month. If I didn’t have to drive on 635 and DNT every day, I’d daily drive it when I was done. Just not a fan of the statistics if I do while this is my commute.
