The Computer Committee is putting on a Hackathon in March. In order to take advantage of all the tools and knowledge we have at the space, we’re looking for volunteers to help teams be available to help teams build their solutions to the challenge.
As a Hackathon Helper, you will coordinate times to meet with teams at the space using the slack workspace (I will reply to this once it’s up and ready). Teams will be able to work on their solutions in advance of the hackathon, which takes place March 21st & 22nd, so even if you’re not able to help on that weekend, we can use your help beforehand.
More details about the number of teams and team sizes will be announced soon, but the number of teams will not exceed 30 and the team sizes will not exceed 5.
The Hackathon itself will be Saturday, March 21st at 12pm - Sunday, March 22nd at 2:30pm. The idea is that we will start letting teams sign up some time in February and they can start on their projects way ahead of time and just wrap up their projects and submission videos during the Hackathon.
I’m thinking Hackathon Helpers during the main event and/or in the weeks leading up to it. There are no time commitment requirements as a Hackathon Helper, you can coordinate with teams as needed and as you’re available.
There is a trello board: Trello and discussions are held at Discord
Overall we’re needing committed volunteers to help doing the event’s setup and to get the word out so we have participants. But do feel free to pick something off the trello board that your interested in.
@ihistand The Trello board is for helping organize the event. The Discord is open for anyone to discuss anything with the committee. Here’s the Slack I created for the event where participants can join, where organizers can make announcements, provide encouragement and guidance, etc.
Here’s the Slack: dmshackathon.slack.com
You should be able to auto-join. Let me know if you have any problems.
If people use a single Discord channel for the hackathon, it will be unorganized and hard to sift through. Please use the Slack workspace, which supports multiple channels among other useful features.
I’m missing something. I attempted to use the email address associated with my DMS account, and my DMS password, no luck.
I also tried the link: If you have an @dallasmakerspace.org email address, you can create an account. That didn’t work either, which isn’t a surprise as I don’t have access to email at @dallasmajerspace.org ( or maybe I do?) Let me know
