After much discussion with the other instructor for the morning, we’ve decided to cancel class due to the possibility of rain. The weather sites can’t seem to agree on the percentages, but most of them seem to agree that we’ll have some storms in the middle of class today. If a sudden, hard, rain comes through it could damage forges and we’re not wanting to take that risk.
@Mitch_McDaniel, @jhaskins, @sarah:
My buddy Zac Freer is looking to join up the DMS and do some blacksmithing. If you recall he gave presentations on droids and molds a few years back at an open house. He used to do a fair bit of blacksmithing at his old residence near Kyle TX, but he has moved up into Krum. Can one of you three let me know what the latest process is for getting him checked out on the gear?
Ask him to join us at one of the open forges (next one is June 5 taught by
Phil and Mitch) and to be prepared to help set up and tear down. Phil or
Mitch will instruct him on DMS gas and coal forge start up and shut down
procedures and make sure he knows how/where to return the equipment when
finished.
Things he MAY want to know:
At this time all blacksmithing must take place outside.
He will need to bring his own propane tank as storage of propane at the
Space is prohibited.
Hope that helps.
