Best Smoked or Take Out Turkey/Ham

My wife and I have traditionally cooked our own turkey, dressing, and fixins for Thanksgiving. I have also ordered spiral cut ham from Honeybaked Ham in the past. This year I’m considering ordering a smoked turkey from somewhere other than Honeybaked Ham.

I am considering Tenders BBQ in Frisco or New Braunfels Smokehouse online, but I wanted to ask the DMS community at large what their best Thanksgiving meat selection is? Smoke it yourself, deep-fry it yourself, order from a local place, baked it in the oven yourself, have a vegetarian dinner? There are certainly a lot of places willing to fix the entire meal for you.

I’ve actually cooked a pot roast for Thanksgiving since my son, whose birthday is on Nov 24th, isn’t a big fan of Turkey and Dressing. He prefers mashed potatoes to sweet potatoes, too. Pot roast was a nice change, too.

So what’s y’alls favorite meal?

Astrud really liked the turkey from Popeyes she had last year.

This. My wife’s favorite, so it’s what we do. My sister in law raves about the turkey and wants the recipe. Real simple. Turkey, Reynold’s turkey bag. 1tb flour into the bag. Shake to coat. Insert turkey. Bake 15-20min/lb. Nothing wrong with gittin’ it done and lowering temp to 200 up to several hours while other stuff is prepared, either. They say they’re unreliable, but I just love the pop up thingies, too.
