Best adhesive for repairing broken handle

Hello,
Former member here. I purchased a mug from Disney and found the handle broken upon my return home. When trying to determine the best repair approach/adhesive, DMS and its members were the first group that came to mind.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Superglue is good for repairing ceramic pieces.

CA glue. Gel version is less likely to also glue fingers to the project.

FYI, This To That is a good place for glue selection advice.

Thank you both for taking time to respond to my question.

If it’s a handle for say a mug then I’d say 2 part epoxy (5 min type), ifs it’s just for display then CA or super glue is probably better.

Do the above recommendations also apply to a 10-inch china plate that’s broken into 3-4 pieces. These are the desired characteristics

  • Good for china/ceramic
  • Can survive multiple dishwasher cycles - so heat and moisture tolerant
  • Color = clear or white

Can CA adhesive satisfy the above?

If you plan to have food come into contact with the repair zone, I recommend Elmer’s Craft Bond Ceramic & Glass Cement. Dishwasher safe, non-reactive.

If you need to repair non-food contact parts, I have a porcelain mug handle that was repaired with Gorilla Glue that has stood up to 1.5 years of dishwashing, probably once a week or so.
