Belt Sander Station (up again)

The set screw for the drive wheel has some how come off and gone missing . What is needed is this part. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/set-screw-p-82762.html I dont know what size it is, but if anyone happens to have one or know where I can get one locally please let me know. Otherwise I will order one tomorrow and hope to get it soon.

Pic of missing set screw.

This topic is now pinned. It will appear at the top of its category until it is unpinned by staff for everyone, or by individual users for themselves.

I am pinning all down tools until they are back up.

take the pulley over to turner hardware. They should have what we need.

Sweeping up we found the set screw. So the belt sander is back up. I keep forgetting about turner hardware, but hopefully won’t in the future.

There’s a tube of Permatex in the red toolbox in the machine shop.

Alex,

Another idea is to have a magnetic pickup tool kept around to pick up ferrous materials. (the cheap HF model works fine) You can get either the cheaper magnetic on a stick (I’ve got one for throwing sharp metals things in the backyard as they can get lost in the grass) or one of the more roller units. (the one at HF has really come down in price)

The former can come in handy in case you have a bolt/screw fall and disappear under a table, or you can get the telescoping thin kind for automotive use. Some are straight, others semi-articulated and others have a bendable semi-rigid stem. Some of the newer ones even have have lights on the end to see where you are probing. (automotive use primarily)

I like the look of the sweeper unit. May have to get one for the yard.

Also, if you want to roll your own, I’ve ordered magnets from CMS Magnetics in the past. Still can’t get all of them apart without using tools.

In restaurants, we use tops on the waste cans to catch silverware from falling in. Same thought may be useful on the vacuum hose, in the cyclone and on the trash can itself if we tend to lose non aluminum parts like that often.
