Bandsaw technique question

Actually, a 3 TPI resaw blade won’t always have 3 teeth engaged when cutting down a 1 inch blank. So it would not be a proper combination.

That’s a good indicator, but unfortunately I was cutting black wood so it wasn’t evident.

The spacing between teeth on a 3 tpi blade is 1/3" (I double checked on all my 3 tpi blades. It’s not 1/2"). The teeth are at 0, .333", .667", 1" … So a 3TPI blade will always have three teeth in a 1 inch board. Apparently, industry standard is to measure the number of teeth over a one inch span starting the ruler in a gullet. How to Measure the TPI of a Bandsaw Blade ? - Blade Serpent Blog
