Attention Bridgeport Users

Good evening Machine Shop Bridgeport users. We now have on the Kurt vise, sine keys. You may ask what this means for you, Well the vise should be square with these in place. Should you have to move the vise, ensure that you do not loose these. As a result the vise is a little bit more difficult to move.

Here is a picture of them.

Are they somehow perfect when first installed on the vise or did you tweak them. And why are called sine keys?

Yes they are accurate. The vise is now square to .00015” over 6”. That is .0014 degrees. The angle who’s sine is .00015/6.

This is BRILLIANT!

From the hole pattern on the bottom of the vice, is it a safe assumption that we can also align at 45’, -45’, and 90’, or am I off on a tangent?

90 certainly, I’m not gong to pull it to check on the other possibilities…

The vise does have other pin holes but not a direct 45 or so that I can think of. However the pins can be in the vise with one in the middle slot & another in the rear or front t slot. Not sure what the angles would be.
