Anyone need a tree removed? Resolved

A close friend of mine is pregnant with twins and due in November.

She uses her fireplace quite a bit on cold days and I want to supply her with a good stock of firewood for the winter so she has one less thing to worry about.

Does anyone need to get rid of a tree or have a few on their property that they wouldn’t miss?

That is most considerate of you…

My neighborhood has bulk pickup days the 4th week of the month and sometimes there is are large bundles of cut up wood. But I warn you that many of the pieces are often quite heavy and require a truck to move.

Would you like me to alert you the next time I see a batch? I live on the North end of White Rock Lake.

Absolutely, let me know. I have a way to haul it.

Okay, I will PM my contact info to you now.

A month or so ago, I had lost a large elm tree and it took forever for the city to pick it up. Look on craigslist, also

It’s awesome you’re wanting to help out, so please don’t take any of this negatively; I’m just not good at sounding positive.
Obviously there might be any number of reasons for this to not be helpful, but…

There are several listings currently, and they come and go frequently.

Also, I hate to point this out, but you’re really skating on the edge of “good fire wood” by harvesting anything live this late in the year. Seasoned is best, and that is called “seasoned” because it needs to sit for a full fire season, which is to say, 1 year, before use. It’s not mandatory, but as someone who grew up on firewood warmth, it is SOOO MUCH better!
On the other hand, slightly green wood is SOOOO MUCH better than freezing…

EDIT: Cairenn beat me to it… But I provided a link.

I’m hoping to get some wood that’s been sitting for awhile. Plenty of folks have piles laying around that they want to get rid of.

I didn’t take your advice negatively at all as I know that seasoned firewood is way better than green.

I checked Craigslist and saw a few free options but most are far out of town so I’m trying to find something closer to north dallas.

I have a large, still-standing, hackberry that’s been dead for a few months or longer. Not quite as easy as picking wood off of the ground, but it’s all yours if you want to take it down and away.

Location is Little Elm.

Not sure if this was already worked out. I assume so. Never the less, this might benefit someone if not the OP.

Seems like a nice thing being done. I have no experience, so I can’t tell you if it’s a scam or some other malfeasance, but it appears to me to be a good thing…

I have a pile of tree limbs, a few live tree limbs that need removing, and a tree I need to be rid of if she is still looking

I appreciate the leads but it has been resolved.

We can leave this open for others who are looking for wood or we can close it…
