Damn.
Wish I had a use for it.
That’s a deal if it’s in good shape, and it looks nice in that pic.
Do you have to have a CDL for the tri-axle of that weight class in TX?

@jast yes unless your active military with a military drivers license of sufficient class. Usually you would need a class A. Thanks @David_Walker but Ill pass that’s a little high for what I want at the moment.

Nice truck!
And if you do opt to buy it - Texas allows it to be driven on public roads without a license plate…

I’d like to see some documentation on that, as well as justification…
I’m not doubting you, but you ARE the first person I’ve heard make that assertion, and I don’t want to go off repeating without documentation…

EDIT: might this be the clause?
http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/TN/htm/TN.504.htm

Sec. 504.502. CERTAIN EXHIBITION VEHICLES; OFFENSE.
(f) The department may exempt a former military vehicle from the requirement to display a license plate or registration insignia if the exemption is necessary to maintain the vehicle’s accurate military markings. The department may approve an alternative registration insignia that is compatible with the vehicle’s original markings.

Well, the asking price just about covers making the trip around the block and filling the tank back up…

Patcash seems to have the most authoritative answer at ~6.1 as well as documentation.

I’m not sure which model you are looking for. FM 101-10-1 at http://cgsc.cdmhost.com/cdm/compound...id/1139/rec/11 is the Staff Officers Field Manual for Organizational, Technical and Logistical Planning Factors.

Around page 2-42 and 2-43, the M923 gets 6.1mpg and the M54 gets 3.4mpg.

Price is too high for me they normally hit the Auction Block between 3,500 and 4,500 I could not do his price unless there were substantial upgrades from GI (Like going faster than 40MPH) or Bobbed.

This is what they look like Bobbed

This is a more realistic “run whatcha brung” bobber:

I think that punishermobile has some upgraded tires/wheels, but it might just be the angle…

Are you currently seeing them for 3-5k on auction? Where, if I may ask?

Jast,

That would be the clause.
Most former military vehicle owners keep a copy of binder of the current Texas laws in the event they are stopped for a roadside interview by officer Poncherello.

The bumper number may be used as an alternative to the “plate” but one of the stipulations is that the vehicles retains it’s military appearance.

The later models do “go faster” and lopping off the rear axle certainly makes them for civilian friendly - 9000.00 is steep depending on the condition and options. For $9000 I would expect ZERO issues and at least a front mounted winch, and a multi fuel engine.

FYI, this M939 truck will be present at Dallas Makerspace next Saturday, 9/12, during the Open House event. So if anybody wants to kick the tires, this is your chance.
