An Idea for the space: http://matterport.com/

We should do this at the space, something fun and possibly give some classes on how to accomplish this:

3d mapping of a space

That is pretty cool,
Do you know how to do it? Would make an awesome tour tool.

Matterport has a special camera array with 3x RGB+D cameras, with a cloud infrastructure to computationally build and texture 3D imagery.

We could do some pretty cool tours with panoramas/photogrammetry, or perhaps talk to MatterPort and see if they’d like to loan us their system for a test.

Here’s a great intro to their tech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MYc5aEsiKM

That would be cool @Nick_McCarthy,

Do you have any links to the company? Possibly a way in to ask for access to the camera?

Another Idea would be to do an Indoor Google Map of the Space. You can link this to an indoor Street View setup. Here is a link with more info, Indoor Maps – About – Google Maps

I think to do this it just requires a camera and tripod, some photography experience, signing up to be able to make your own street views and possibly a little cash? Plus, when anyone looks up DMS on google maps they can jump right into the space which is pretty cool.

@Robert_Davidson looked into this, and it seems like there’s an entire certification process for the people who do the photography. There are people who do this commercially, but IMO not worth the $ if we can’t generate the content ourselves.

Agreed, I remember the certification process if you wanted to become a vendor. I didn’t realize you had to be certified to do it for yourself. O well.

OR

Its pretty straight forward.

I work with a tour company that is really close to the space. They are in the offices behind Granger.
