Airbrush cleaner

I have read numerous sources that recommend using windshield washer fluid to clean an airbrush:

  • brand name airbrush cleaners are a combination of water, detergent, and alcohol (costing between $42 and $128 per gallon)
  • windshield washer fluid is a comparable mix of water, detergent, and methanol (for about $3/gallon)

I use distilled water as the initial rinse, then follow it up with windshield washer fluid. It’s cheap, it’s easy and it seems to be working just fine.

Anyone have experience with this?
