Adobe not working on workstations

I was super excited to see the new computers in Digital Media today, but couldn’t get any of the Adobe apps to work for me. There’s a problem with the licenses, but I don’t even want to attempt any fixes in case it messes with the space’s licenses.

I logged in a week or so ago. I forget which app in the suite I fired up but it was working, premier pro I think it was. However, when I tried Firefly it was not working as part of our subscription. It looks like we do not have the FULL creative suite subscription, as it listed out the apps working, and not all options/apps were included in our package. Of course I am new at using it, so I could be wrong. But that was how it appeared to me. I posted in talk in another thread on Firefly not working afterwords, but no one has responded yet.

I managed to get one of the other machines to work-- third time’s the charm!
I don’t know about firefly though. I’ve never played with it.

We are aware there are still some bugs. We were doing some testing on them the other day.

It should work on some of the computers but not all of them in the lab right now

Gotcha-- for other’s reference
Workstation close to the door is having adobe licensing issues
The one in front of it has working license but there’s no access to the member’s drive. The one on the other side of the room from the door, closest to the TV. has working adobe and member drives

Most of the computers in that room except for a couple are brand new. We are rolling out some golden images for them but there’s some stuff that’s still missing.

I believe they are usable but I would ask the chair/vice chair (pinging @Keith for clarity). There are some shortcuts missing on some, and because they are brand new they do not currently have the members and committee drives linked. We were working on testing them but then ran into that Adobe licensing issue that still needs to get resolved, so some of those computers may not be ready for use yet really.

For right now, I would recommend using the PC furthest from the door, the one facing back in to the room, as it is the best of the old computers and hasn’t been changes. It should still work. As will the Mac, but it’s due to be replaced in the fall as it’s very old and some of the Adobe apps will not run. We’re working on getting the license working, and we’re even adding 2 more seats! But for now please be patient. There are many apps on the new machines that don’t have desktop shortcuts but should work if you browse to them.

For now, all of the Adobe AI products and features that require tokens (and are therefore a separate purchase) are not available at DMS. They would likely be something you will have to buy and bring on your own (like any other consumable), but we’re unclear as to how that can be implemented. Come to the next Committee meeting to find out the latest!

Sorry for the inconvenience, and again thanks for your understanding as we work to make these upgrades to Digital Media!
