My understanding is that the additional camera for electronics has been purchased. Is there anything members can volunteer to help with, like running the ethernet cable, to help get this installed?
Yes, coordinate with @bscharff. He has been waiting on us to help run the cat5.
We should schedule a elan workday. There are a couple of issues to work on.
I think there are several cat6 runs that need to be done including the rfid box at the end of the ramp out back. Do we have cable to do the runs? Cable pulling party anyone?
The cable is already ran for that camera. The camera just needs to be mounted. Anyone willing to help is certainly welcome to! I just have to keep the cameras (still in boxes) locked up until installed
Would not want the security cameras stolen
Do we need to install a security camera for the area where the security camera is locked up?
I’d be more than happy to help with whatever is needed.
Here’s the list, for anyone curious or wanting to help:
- Second camera for Electronics - install on same wall as existing camera in Electronics, but on other end. Ethernet wire with keystone jack is already above ceiling.
- Third camera for Machine Shop - Needs a wire run - Bryan Gangwere’s choice on location.
- Camera for Reloading - Existing camera is wrong lens, needs to be swapped out with a new camera. The Ethernet cable is extended above the door with a female-female cat5e adapter and may be loose, causing disconnects
- Camera for Automotive - Needs a wire run - Take old camera from Reloading and install between garage doors so it can see the automotive toolbox.
- Shielded cat6 cable needs to be run to Server Room wall (access control panels) from above the garage door. Needs a decent service loop above the garage just in case. This is to get the RFID reader working so the garage can be opened from the outside. The special wire for this is in the Electrical Room.
Notes
- There’s an unused Ethernet run above the pillar by Machine Shop that has a bunch of extra length. Feel free to use that for whatever.
- If you find any Ethernet runs above the ceiling, feel free to test them. If you get a link light, then we can use it.
- After installing the camera and plugging it in, just make sure the IR lights come on and look faintly red. I’ll handle it from there.
- If you can record the MAC addresses of each camera and where they’re installed (as in “Electronics 2,” etc.), that would help me set them up very quickly.
- There’s a bunch of cat5e spools in the electrical room - just don’t use the one labelled for garage use only.
That’s great. We would like to get the camera in Hatchers up pretty quick. There’s a lot of expensive gear in there & I would feel better if a camera had an eye on things. I wish I knew when I could be available to help with that.
Thanks for what you do.
The second camera in electronics has been installed and tested. Scratch one off the list…
