Abandoned Cuts (Settlers of Catan)

Hi, I am working on a wooden Settlers of Catan game. I messed up when removing residue from these pieces and did one side at a time; this caused the wood to warp and cup. I attempted to get the wood flat again to a degree of success. Unfortunately, what I did caused the pieces to become misshaped and they no longer nest with the other game pieces I made. I wasn’t sure if the committee would be interested in keeping them as samples or not. I also couldn’t bring myself to throw them away after all the work I put into them.

Thanks,
John Gracia

PS. If anyone knows any Dallas wood suppliers that can provide 1/4" Hard Maple that’s sanded and ready to burn, please let me know. Thanks!

If someone can’t use them, then we can use them as nice samples of work in Laser.

I’m not expecting any local distributor will stock wood that thin. it will probably need to be milled down. This almost sounds like a low volume product. You might contact @brahli_1337 .

Yes, thank you, feel free to use them as samples! I reached out to Hardwood Lumber Co and got a quote but it’s cheaper for me to use my original supplier (Ocooch in Wisconsin) and pay for shipping.

Likely to find it in small pieces at Woodcraft. 3"w x 1/4" thick x 24" long. Sometimes 5" wide. Another woodcraft option here.

You might want to run some 320 over it, but it will be real close to laser ready.

I won’t guarantee which specific maple species it will be, however.

Sorry to hear that - you had a lot of work into those. I meant to ask you what you had on them that was blue? Was it laser masking tape?

Always looking for more samples for the shelves in the lobby for people to see when they come for tours.

It was just Blue Painter’s tape that was wide. I got it on Amazon. It worked well but it does leave some adhesive residue that needs removing after.
