OK, so, putting aside the “let’s do something crazy-stupid” part of the exercise, who anywhere ever peels watermelons? It’s a tool for a nonexistent task!
To the contrary; while we traditionally consume the endocarp raw, and this method destroys the mesocarp mostly use for feedstock or pickling in my experience, I am aware of virtually no use for the endocarp. It’s just a question of how you remove the peel and when. People have been serving melon balls since forever, which is just another way to peel it. Stores certainly stock commercially produced containers of (usually) pink only watermelon. How do you think they get it?
Anyway, if we stick to your premise that this is a tool for s nonexistent task, is that not the point of entertainment? Hollywood shifts $billions annually doing it, and usually with less aplomb!
