Came in 6AM this morning to use a printer. I created my object at home using Tinkercad, exported it as an SVG file then opened in S3D on my machine and created the GCODE file. I know my S3D app profile is not specifically setup for the PolyPrinters. I would typically bring the to the space and “slice” it using the KSS slicer to create a gcode file tailored for the PolyPrinters. First issue was trying to find a PC I could use in the common area. I found one but could not find the KSS slicer app on it. Have we removed the KSS slicer from the PCs?
I then opened my file with the S3D app on the machine and created a new gcode file. I took this to the 3D FAB area and found BUBBA to be the only machine that was working. There we no signs on the machines indicating their state of "unreadiness’ and the print quality on BUBBA after a 2 hour print job came out useless - I think because of the profile that was setup in SD3?
Can we get KSS back??
In the common room, I think the 3 computers with KissSlicer have their monitors marked with “Design Computer” on them (or something similar).
When I log into the machine, the desktop is clean, and I often can not find programs via the start menu. However, when using the Search tool on the menubar, I can find pretty much anything. And, specifically in the case of KissSlicer, I always use the search tool to locate the executable and have never had an issue finding it via this method.

If you want to slice at home or on a laptop you can get the software here.

Thank darrent I was using the START MENU to search for the slicer. Good to know it doesn’t always find stuff. Will go the “search” route next time!!
