I’m trying to decide on installing a smart thermostat. Problem is, I’ve only got 4 wires (in a 5 wire run) connected to the t-stat. Ecobee needs a dedicated c-wire (I would have to use their converter that robs you of independent blower control). Nest can use power stealing to charge under my current setup, but I’m concerned with the “pulsing” problem and don’t know if I’m running the risk of blowing a contactor or relay. Or if that concern is really valid.
I’m toying with the idea of using the unused 5th wire in my run to create my own common wire (there is no terminal block at the blower), but am having trouble identifying where I should look to pick up the 24v neutral side off of the transformer based on the attached wiring diagram… All thoughts appreciated.
