1980 Stern Nine Ball

Finally brought it home from storage. My dad purchased this at auction circa 1998, $250 plus hammer fee if I remember correctly. Oh, those Big Town auctions…

I think I nailed down what needs to be fixed first:

Backglass is in ok shape, some bubbling on the bottom edge. Missing a couple of field plastics, others need flattening. Playfield is pretty rough in spots.

I can definitely help you with repairing the game. The rectifier board has the usual burnt pins that require a full rebuild using trifuricon crimp pins and replacing the plastic connector shells and repinning the board with a new header. Almost certain your MPU also has major battery acid damage.

If you are looking to sell this game let me know. It is one of the few games on my want list…

In a week or two in VECTOR we are about to start on another early Bally/Stern game that is basically the same hardware platform and has the same types of issues.

Hi Mathew do you have any interest in selling the 9-ball?

I actually ended up buying the Nine Ball project. Probably not looking to sell it though. Still working through some switch matrix issues on the playfield.
