Silicone for casting sample or recommendation request

Casting with potting compund

Does anyone know if you can cast epoxy potting compound? I would like to make a silicone mold or something and insert a part with the epoxy and be left with a free-formed encapsulated part. Has anyone done anything remotely like this? I’m a little bit afraid to try with regular casting epoxy because potting compound is made especially to be non-corrosive and stable for electronic etc.

I’d like to do some experiments to see if the epoxy adheres to silicone or if there are curing issues inside the mold or whatever. Does anyone have a small sample of mold silicon that I could try out? (I can contribute a few bucks for the material, but using somebody’s leftovers is better than buying a whole batch of it for testing)

If there is no extra material around, does anyone have a recommendation for one to try?
