Queue Wait Etiquite

Howdy Folks,
Im a bit new to DMS and have a quick question around the queue system. I dont want to ruffle many feather on my second week.

I went to use the laser cutter today and there were two people ahead of me on the list with one of them going unused. The board mentioned person 1 was contacted roughly an hour prior and person 2 ~20 minutes.

Whats an acceptable amount of time to give them before jumping in and not giving myself a reputation of a queue hopper?

-Nick

5-10 minutes?

Edit: Especially if they don’t response to text/call

Hi, Nick! Former Laser Chair here.

From the wiki:

  1. Answer your phone or text message promptly, or else you may lose your turn.

Thank you for asking about etiquette.
The queue should not be in a holding pattern for 20 min…certainly not an hour.
The goal is to keep it moving.

The queue-ers are in the building. Unless they gave up and left.
They should be replying to a text almost right away with an “on my way”.
After that, give them a few minutes (10m) to pack up their stuff from wherever they are encamped at the Space and move to the Laser Area.

If your text is getting radio silence, say 5+ minutes, the next in queue may move up.
