Chair Types, Red Chairs, Black Chairs, Soft Chairs, Problem Chairs ... CHAAAAIIIRRRs!

Continuing the discussion from Does anyone know where we got the red chairs in the common room from?:

But of course … hahaha :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually I am looking for a new office chair… really … any suggestions?

Suggested by a chiropractor … test sit them. And make sure you sit in them for 20 minutes.

Might not be practical, but that’s the best way to do it.

That is really something that never occurred to me … I’m going to have to talk to the manager of the store to make sure it is okay to do … but really good suggestion there

Yeh - first two minutes aren’t necessarily representative. Bring a book …

This, also don’t look at the price tag when you sit in them. Same goes for anything you plan to sit/lay on for long periods of time. I have never run into an issue doing this in stores, generally they know if you are going to spend the time to test them you are going to buy one there.

That may have been the case before Internet commerce. You cannot “try before you buy” from Amazon, etc.

These are the two best chairs I have used:

The Mirra 2 chair is basically the same as the Aeron with a plastic back.

Used Aeron chairs can be had for ~$200 to $300, when buying a used Aeron the most important thing is to make sure the mesh is in good shape. Replacing the mesh will not be cheap.

Here is a great thread on alternatives to the Aeron Chair:

Edit:
I should also note that I hate foam seats and seat backs. They are gross, hot and wear out quickly. Mesh, even cheap mesh, chairs last much longer in normal environments.

Furniture stores still exist, you can even buy things from them

Seriously though, how can you know how comfortable something is by looking at a picture?

You misinterpreted what I said.

People cannot try before buying from an online seller, so they often go to a brick and mortar to try it out, then pull out their phone and order from someone else. Best Buy complained loudly about this several years ago.
