FWIW, I have three of those style (mercury vapor) lights in my barn. They are slow to start up - especially when very cold out - but light VERY well. One downside is if you turn them off, it takes a little while for the ballast to recharge, so you cannot immediately turn them back on.
You need a high roof for the light to be able to spread well (mine is 19’ up).

Just don’t break the outer glass envelope or you will have your own UV sterilization lamp.
