There was a wig work class on the calendar for 2-3 p.m. in .CA yesterday. Supposed to have been taught by a Mitsu Hawes.
A student showed up, but no instructor. If someone knows the instructor, please remind them that it’s not excellent to schedule something and not notify students that it needs to be cancelled. Thanks.
There is another wig class on the calendar for Wednesday as well. I was concerned when I saw these entries in the first place: One hour long, described as “Getting start in looking for the right type of wig. Care and maintenance.” For which $50 of member dues is to be disbursed to the “instructor.”
Cosplay is Cool. Cosplay classes that demonstrate real skills and knowledge are great. Do people really need help shopping for a wig or understanding how to take care of one? Is this the best use of our dues?
She did an excellent class on FX makeup the other day. I’ll send an email asking whats up.
Thanks for checking in for me Stan!
It was my mistake for some reason I had the schedule wrong in my personal calender. I will be there tomorrow and try to cover some basics of what I was going to cover. As far as dues that money is sent to creative arts. Honestly you would be surprised how many people would like help with wigs. Every one starts some where. No one gets started knowing exactly what they’re doing.
Don’t sweat it, it happens. And don’t sweat the complaint about the honorarium either. If you have students, I absolutely encourage you to teach. I was just checking in to find out what happened, and am glad it was nothing serious.
I wasn’t a complaint; it was an observation-&-question, and a sincere one at that.
Mitsu covered one concern when (s)he indicated there was significant interest; I’ll take his/her word for it.
My other question/concern had to do with content (this is a rel concern for any class submitted).
This class is scheduled for one hour. Does the class content go beyond what I easily found, read, and grokked in these two links? If so, then hooray!

As a general principle, if people can get the same level of information and understanding from some simple searching on the internet, then I don’t think it should qualify for our honorarium program or be allowed to take up a scarce resource (i.e. a class room), and I don’t think many other people would argue with this perspective.
And yet we have basic biology classes and other classes,
Personal I know nothing about buying a wig, and I would not even
know where ont he web to get accurate information, The internet
is mish mash of goo and horrible information. I know I debunk bad
science ther all the time
