Wondering if there is any interest in a class for using and maintaining cabinet/card scrapers?
An old school wood finishing tool that goes back to long before sandpaper was readily available, scrapers are a fast way to reach a 220-320 grit finish with a little practice.
I’ve also used them on the lathe for both bowls and spindles with good success.
Youtube video below gives a brief tutorial. There are several other excellent videos out there as well.
Ideally, I’d like to set up the class to include the purchase price of a set of scrapers for each participant - rough guess is the class would be in the $20-$25 range with proceeds going to the woodshop.
