I just submitted a class to teach the process to prepare wood for woodworking. Preparing your wood to be parallel and square before you begin to cut boards to size is very important. This class will hopefully address that need. It will teach you how to joint, plane and resaw wood to the starting size you need for a project. Hopefully this class will help a few people gain confidence on the jointer, planer, tablesaw and bandsaw. Should go live in 72 hours unless denied.
Thanks, Matt. I intend to take this. I’m also hoping that you’ll have some more box-making classes sometime soon.
Is this Woodshop Basics or does it require Woodshop Basics?
It is not wood shop basics. I just want to focus on the few key tools with a smaller group. This portion takes up a lot of time in other classes I want to teach.
Sounds good. I know like, how to do it. Flatten one face on the jointer, then one side on the jointer with your newly flattened face against the fence, then use the planer to flatten the parallel face, then cut off the other side and ends on the table saw, and you’ve got a S4S board!
Except somehow it goes wrong and I never get it perfectly flat or S4S…so frustrating.
This class is live. Feb 17th 7pm
I’m with you. I can’t get it to come off the jointer as flat as I’d like - it has to be operator technique. So I’m signed up …
And, it’s full. Damn. My frustration builds, as I missed the first box-making class, then I was in the box-making class that got cancelled because the jointer wasn’t working.
I’ll keep trying as long as Matt does.
