I expect members to not do this in the woodshop.
I expect it would take an entire village of members just to lift it onto a lathe.
That is what gantry cranes are for.
But I like to think that your lathe should weigh several times what your part does.

It heartens me that the guy doing the work thought the same as me: “what a waste of a nice chunk of maple”.

This one also impresses me. This is a huge wood turning by David Barkby. Personally, I think this guy is probably a little nuts.
