Woodshop Downtime For Expansion

Does anyone know if there will be any downtime coming up for the workshop as it moves to its new home in the expansion? Thanks!

At some point yes there will have to be a downtime as we move machines and reconnect dust collection. When that is and how long it will be is unknown.

Lol belive me once they have a date Ian’s not gonna keep it a secret, they’ll be threads posted weeks to a month prior

I was the person in charge of Expansion. I am no longer in charge of it since I moved out of State to Tennessee. The Board of Directors are now in charge.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done before the Woodshop can be moved. The previous expansion plans included a 22 foot tall wall to be built around the area to prevent dust from accessing the rest of the building per Fire Codes. Then based on the location of the various wood shop machinery, the electrical system and the dust collection system has to be designed. The fire sprinkler system needs to be revamped with flush mounted sprinkler heads, and several of them moved per code. This all requires engineering drawings, and building permits prior to construction. Then get construction quotes and start the building process. All of this takes time, especially if you are relying on volunteer help to perform the engineering design itself. This is not an easy task.

One of the biggest problems with Expansion in the past is with all of the last minute changes the various committees made. Every 6 months a new person is in charge of each committee and they want to change the plans from the previous administration. My suggestion, decide once and for all exactly where all the Woodshop equipment will go…and do not change it! Contact the Board to see when this process will start again.
