Thanks to all the people that attended the Woodshop Committee meeting and those that pitched in and helped clean up the woodshop. I, unfortunately, did not get all the names so I apologies and rather than leave someone out I’m just saying thanks to everyone.
One of the great success is cleaning out the fluorescent lights, what a huge difference
Before
And we have a new stretch band holding the bags in the trolley
Another group worked on the Multicam. Folks cleaned and fixed the Powermatic. The pen turning supplies were cleaned and organized. The new stand for the Jet lathe was assembled and the lathe was installed. Still waiting parts to make it work, but soon. Found the people who can help with the screen above the Multicam, As soon as the Chrome cast is found and returned it will be up and running with new content. We have a bunch of new signs and labels for identification and reminder.
My spouse really wanted to go- but I just had to go into labor! Haha. Nice job to you guys! He built our baby’s bassinet there, so there are some fond memories already.
That TV supports USB content; may investigate this as it would be easier to manage than a chromecast, which ends up with shared account / sync / controlling computer wonkiness for something that has relatively static content.
Its was a Chromebit running RiseVision CMS for content management. The Chromecast wasn’t able to specify the order in which images would play and limited what media type would work. Rise allows us set playlists and schedule content to play at particular times (ie: “Woodshop Committee, Meeting Now in Room A”, “Woodshop cleanup this Saturday”) as well as upcoming classes and videos.
As someone who has worked in Digital Signage for a long time I have a special hatred for all built in media players both consumer and commercial screens.
A device like that is perfect for this; I agree the built in media management on TVs sucks, but between that and a Chromecast would have been the pick.
Hopefully that device turns up so it doesn’t have to get reconfigured.
