I took the class several months ago, and just wanted to make sure I was on the list of people approved to use the woodshop tools. Is there a list of approved people somewhere?

We keep the sign in sheets and upload them every once in a while to the wiki.

Heads up for anyone waiting for this, the classes @MathewBusby posted about two days ago are now on the Calendar, so if your interested sign up quickly before they fill up!

The most recent class events posted had a problem. They had a Meetup response system instead of using Event Brite. If you signed up one of these upcoming classes before this morning, your sign-up has been lost as the events have been updated to use the Eventbright system.

Please sign-up again, ASAP

I’m feeling a bit frustrated tonight as I went to sign up for the woodshop basic class only to find that every class in March is already full.

Based on comments in this thread it seems this may be the norm.

If it is the norm, it seems like we need more dates and instructors for this class. I’d be happy to volunteer to teach some of the classes myself once approved.

If there is such a high demand is it possible to have the current free classes but also have some paid classes for people willing to pay to get the class done sooner? I’d be happy to pay in order to not wait.

It’s only a small consolation, and impractical for many folks, but from what I understand, there are a lot of no-shows for this class, and since there is no charge, you can often times slot in by just waiting around.

My recommendation would be to set an alert on the DMS calendar and/or this post so you get an immediate notification when new classes get posted.

Agree. That’s how I got in and the same point I was going to make.

Classes has been posted for the normal days in April.

There is an upcoming Woodshop meeting… we haven’t set a date. Keep your eyes peeled. Come tell us how to plane our boards.

There is a mix between Eventbrite RSVPs and Meetup RSVPs… let us know how you feel about each one.

New member, signed up online tonight. I toured during open house a month ago and was blown away. I wish I’d found the makerspace before filling my garage with tools and displacing my car. My wife agrees.

From the event calendar, I linked to the meet-up for the Woodshop Basics class on Wednesday 11 May, and I RSVP’d there. However, the description of that meet-up says I’m supposed to get a ticket from eventbrite. Can anyone point me to where I get eventbrite tickets? Or does the prior message in this thread mean that I don’t need an eventbrite ticket since I RSVP’d via meet-up?

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to meeting ya’ll!

Whoops. Bad copy/paste. I’ll send in a request to fix it.

Edit: to clarify, I mean yes you should rsvping on meetup.

Does this mean that if we took the class before the sign-up sheets were tracked (e.g., August 10, 2015) that we need to take it again?

Great question. @AlexRhodes @Tapper @Azalaket ?
