Wood shop software, prerequisites help

Hi there,
It’s been a few years since I’ve used the MultiCam so when I came back to get reacquainted I saw some posts about new vcarve software and licensing, Shapeoko, Easel, X-carve, recertification to use the CNC, etc.

I saw a post about needing to use vCarve 11.0 but not the 11.5 edition but going to the vectric link only downloads 11.5. What’s the workaround?

If I might make a suggestion, I would be thrilled to see a pinned discussion thread that contains the different CNC machines at DMS, the required software to use each one, links to important URLs to get us started regarding the software for makerspace client versions etc, prerequisites to use these machines, and any other info that we need to make DMS a home away from home. In essence, what does the DMS path to CNC success look like?

I also see a need and desire for more classes on these machines. Would it be a good idea for there to be a push to “Train the Trainer” and put an initial emphasis on really training up those individuals who want to give back by becoming trainers for others? I would be on board for that. Really learning these machines in-depth can only add to the talent pool at DMS.

Anywho, just some thoughts I had.

Agree. I am an experienced cnc user new to this maker space in June I have been trying to access cnc since I have joined but cannot get the local training or approval to access. Willing to be a trainer as I was at the Houston maker barn.

Must confess I am now frustrated and researching purchasing one for my home or moving to Rockwell makerspace to allow myself to get back to building again.
