I’d like to laser some ear tags for cattle on our ranch. I found some and sent the company a message asking it they were safe for a C02 laser. The company says their tags don’t have any PVC in them. Says they are made from polyurethane. Is it alright to try these?
Polyurethane in general is safe but depending on whether it is a dense foam or a rigid sheet, you may not be happy with the edge quality. I think a foam will be cleaner. A rigid material may melt and get gooed up.
In any case, it’s not going to hurt you or the laser.
Alternative option, they also make cattle ear tags designed for dye sublimation. Might hold up better.
