FYI - there appear to be issues with the wide format printer.
Three tries on an 8.5 x 11 produced the same results - horizontal streaks near the top and bottom of the page, and what appears to be a yellow tint.
I’ve updated the tool status page Tools Status Board - DMS and will follow up with a PM to @pandabob
could you post a picture please?
sure - such as they are - not the best renditions…
This is the printed image at the top of the page
this is the printed image at the bottom of the same page. You can just barely make out the feet from the top image looking good, but badly streaked at the bottom.
and this is a low res version of the original ( to squeak by the file size limit on talk-dms.org) - I recall cropped but otherwise straight from the camera. I duplicated this same image on a single 8.5 x 11 to save paper. These pictures don’t show the yellow cast very well. I don’t expect prints to match an LCD exactly, but I found more variation than usual…
thanks
@pandabob Check it out Steve
Wide format printer update.
-
Color issue looks to be user error. I haven’t seen a color issue while
printing test sheets. -
The weird banding issue is persisting as are a few clogged nozzels. Work
on this issue will continue tomorrow night.
I suggest limiting usage of the machine and only use with he understanding
that prints will be of reduced quality until the issue is fully resolved.
cool thanks for the feedback - will retry after your maintenance
6/25 update. The printer’s nozzels are cleaner now than yesterday thanks to
a few 24x36 print jobs pushing through a healthy quantity of ink. I just
ran a test print and the odd bands at the ends of the sheet are greatly
diminished from where they were. A slight strip remains at each end that is
most likely not going to be an issue for most.
As such, I’ve returned the status back to operational.
I would appreciate ongoing feedback on this issue if it should worsen or
persist.
On a related note, I will be out of town from the 30th until the 12th so
support for the printer will be limited during this time.
Thank you Steve,
Your kindness and constant maintenance of the printer has kept it a fantastic resource. Send me a PM your paypal account. I would like to purchase a month of DMS membership for you. This is only kind of in thanks though, as it also keeps you around for another month.
@pandabob Steve,
Many thanks on tuning up the printer! I’ve used it all afternoon with very good results - no hint of the streaking - and confirmation of user error on the alleged yellow cast .
However, it looks like we’re getting low on paper.
I used up the remaining good 8.5 x 11 paper, and the 8.5 x 11 test sheets are getting low (maybe a dozen sheets left).
For that matter, the canvas roll only has a few more feet left, and it looks like the spare role of PLPP260 is all gone, leaving whatever fraction remains on the roll in the printer.
BTW - I think Nick is onto something - I think we should help keep this in the black - so I’ll push a little extra to your paypal
Thanks again!
Carl
I’m leaving town early Tuesday morning but I’ll see what I can do to
replenish the paper on Monday.
No need to kick in extra. I appreciate the offer but one thing I’ve been
trying to do is track usage, fees collected and cost of consumables so I
can accurately keep the cost of using the machine as low as possible which
is my ultimate goal. “Tips” (which are very cool, thank you) sort of skew
the stats. I’d hate for something to only be feasible with the occasional
extra kindness of a few members
There’s a new roll of paper at the space, sorry, no new letter sheets yet.
The new roll is from RedRiver so the box looks different. You might keep
An eye on it and make sure the new roll is found when the old one runs out.
I’ll be out of town through the 12th.
Cool - many thanks as always!
Have a good trip!
