The Wide Format Printer and the computer for it have been moved into the Creative Arts Studio.
The computer is hooked up to the network using the East wall jack. There wasn’t room for the printer next to it. I recommend that the Creative Arts group get some new network jacks installed near where they want the printer and computer(s).

Thanks for the head’s up, (@StanSimmons)!
Since this is going to affect Creative Arts (as far as the next actions to be taken), I’m going to move this thread to the Creative Arts category and make sure Steve (@pandabob) knows that the printer is offline (not plugged in, etc…) so he can make arrangements to make sure the ink does what it needs to do when it gets plugged back in.
Thx again!
From reading Stan’s post and Lisa’s post, I can’t tell for sure if the printer is “up” or not. If it’s not “up”, could someone please update the tool status board accordingly? (or let me know and I’ll update it). It might save someone an unnecessary long drive.
Thanks!
Chris
The printer is out of roll paper. I’ll have more there Monday or Tuesday.
The printer needs to be connected to the Arts computer via USB so that it
doesn’t get accidentally printed to.
Otherwise, it’s “up-able” for printing on letter sized paper which is
available on the shelf.
To be more clear…
The wide format printer is “OFFLINE” because it is not connected to anything (it’s too far from the host PC at the moment). One of the Creative Arts Chairs will have to decide where best to locate the host PC and wide format printer before it can be set-up.
Steve… When the equipment gets moved to where it’s going to be, and they get ready to plug it in, is there anything at all that needs to be considered when starting the printer?
Thanks, y’all!
Not so long as it’s connected to the Same computer as before
Just a heads up to the Creative Arts folks…
Someone on the committee needs to make a request to [email protected] outlining how many computer drops you need, and where they need to be.
You need one near the door for the phone, and a couple on the pillar, and some on other walls depending on your other needs.
I was able to wheel it into a workable (if not somewhat squishy) position and I’ll leave a note on it that more roll media is incoming. What might be a better option (if Creative Arts wants to do it) is to have all three roll media printers (HP, Epson and vinyl) horizontally against a wall in rows and just run the USB where it needs to go (and then clearly identify the computer that each printer is connected to).

I know creative arts is making some big space changes to consider, I don’t know how much the large printing stuff has been considered as of yet. I’d like to see it settled, as I’m willing to participate in the management of the equipment if needed. (Experience with large format printing company with larger and more complex machinery). Anyhow, I’ll look into what the plans are for them (if any) amongst us creative arts people.

We had someone working on creating a simple bookcase (for lack of a better word) with help on design/functionality from @pandabob but it hasn’t had any forward momentum. Organizing/building the space out is in the works just slow. Great things are happening.
