Where to find a cheap cart or parts to build my own?

Hello all,

I’m in need of a shelf cart for a school project I am working on to be a movable display for a VR project. My budget is limited so I’m looking for either a very cheap (under $50) cart or to build my own. The car is supposed to hold a computer and a VR Headset so it needs to be sturdy and hold about 60 lbs.

I was hoping if y’all knew where I could find either a cheap shelf cart (or at least the bottom frame)?

Or know of where to buy the components to build one. I am having trouble finding the metal angle brackets and the metal structure to create the frame?

I am also looking for a cheap source of wood something like pallet wood, that is cheap?

Thanks

At one point in time our neighboring tenant to the immediate north - Tempest Telecom - had invited us to remove the pallets that used to litter their loading dock area.

I used an upper limit of $75, in case you are flexible. Not like in doing the splits, but price-wise.

I do not know how your “cart” needs to roll. Locked directional wheels, all free moving.

The really easy and cheap solution is a furniture dolly cart from Harbor Freight. Looks like $10-$20 depending on size.

That would give you something fast, built and ready. I am not sure if it meets your specs. It would also give you a platform to modify. They are rated in the hundreds of pounds range.
